Goop

July 14th 2008 12:17

An activity to do outside on a sunny day.

This is a great activity that kids will want to do again and again…it is messy but to see your children having so much fun interacting with the goop is definitely worth it!

This activity is easy to clean up with water...

What you need

* 1 or 2 pkts of cornflour (alternative name is Cornstarch)
* 1 or 2 cups water (depending on how many pkts you use)
* Food colouring
* Large container
* Old clothes or aprons

What to Do

1. Add the cornflour to the container.

2. Mix the food colouring with the water and add to the cornflour.

The goop should have a thick consistency, but runny enough to fall through fingers.

2. Encourage your child to use their hands to explore the goop and feel the consistency of it.

3. Let them enjoy what the goop does such as run through their fingers.

4. Give your child measuring cups, funnels and spoons to pour and mix with. They will enjoy testing the goops consistency as they try to spoon it up.

Ask questions like -

What does the goop smell like? What does it feel like? What is it doing?

Use such words as
cold, thick, slimy, cool, sticky, soft, runny, and smooth

Even parents will enjoy interacting with the goop too!

Until next time,
