Recipes for Play-Dough

Here are some of my favourite recipes...try them all and then choose which one best suits you......
Your children will have hours of fun playing and creating with dough and by making it yourself, you know exactly what is in it and it is a lot cheaper too!

Uncooked Dough

Recipe One
1 cup plain flour
¼ cup salt
1 tablespoon oil
Few drops food colouring
½ cup water


Method

1.Mix dry ingredients together and add oil.
2.Add food colouring to the water and then add this to the flour mixture a little at a time.

3.Mix together and then knead to a soft and manageable dough.
4.Add more flour if dough becomes sticky


Recipe Two

* 2 cups flour
* 1 cup salt
* 1 tablespoon oil
* 1 cup water
* Powder paint or food colouring
* Bowl
* Spoon


Method

1.If using powder paint mix it with the flour and salt.
2.If using food colouring add it to the water.
3.Add oil and water.
4.Knead until it becomes workable.
5.Add more flour if dough becomes sticky.


Recipe Three

* ¾ cup flour
* ½ cup cornflour
* ½ cup salt
* Powered paint or food colouring
* 3/8 cup warm water
* Bowl
* Spoon


Method

1.Mix all ingredients
2.Add warm water gradually until mixture can be kneaded into a stiff dough.
3.Add more flour if dough becomes sticky.


COOKED PLAY-DOUGH

Recipe One

* 2 cups plain flour
* 1 cup salt
* 4 tablespoons cream of tartar
* 2 tablespoons oil
* Few drops food colouring

* 2 cups water
* Saucepan


Method

1.Mix all ingredients in saucepan.
2.Add colouring.
3.Cook on medium heat for approx 3 to 5 mins, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes thick.


Recipe Two

* 1 cup flour
* ¼ cup salt
* 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
* 1 tablespoon oil
* Food colouring
* 1 tablespoon Vanilla essence
* Saucepan
* Spoon


Method

1.Combine all ingredients in saucepan.
2.Whisk until mixed together.
3.Cook over medium heat until nearly playdough is nearly set.
4.Add the vanilla essence.
5.Stir until vanilla is blended, then remove and knead when cool.



MICROWAVE PLAY-DOUGH
* 2 cups of plain flour
* 2 cups cold water
* 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
* 1/2 cup salt
* 1/2 cup oil
* food colouring


Method

1.Place dry ingredients in a microwave container and stir.
2.Add oil, water and food colouring.
3.Stir until mixture is smooth.
4.Cook in microwave for 3 minutes.
5.Knead the dough for approx a minute.
6.Return to microwave and cook for a futher 2 minutes or until cooked.
7.Knead for about a minute and add extra flour if still sticky.
